I have a MySpace account, which, once active, now sits there doing very little. Except, over the past two weeks, I’ve gotten over 300 new “friends.”
Now, those of you familiar with that particular internet social network, are probably thinking, wow, you got that many friend requests from the famous “MySpace Strippers”? (Accounts set up for the simple purpose of redirecting you to websites that have adult content – ie, spam.)
No.
These are actual individuals I have “friended.” (When did that become a term? “Befriended,” sure, but “Friended”?!?)
And I don’t know most of them.
See, though my account is pretty inactive right now, MySpace has these game applications that are pretty neat… and when you add people to your “alliance” or “guild” or whatever the vernacular of the particular app is, you become more powerful in the game.
And, so, I, who sat with about 18 friends (people I *gasp* actually knew) on MySpace for about two years, now have over 300 “friends” (people I couldn’t pick out of a lineup of two).
Maybe one or two will actually take a look at my page, maybe read a couple of my blog entries sometime. Maybe God will somehow use that spread the Gospel a bit.
Or, maybe they’ll just play their games like I do. I don’t know. Might be interesting to find out someday, though.
I’ll see you all on Wednesday!
