A Look Back at the Year in Which The Crimson Scarab Premiered…

Filed under: Uncategorized — crimsonscarab @ 8:36 pm

It seems a little odd to be looking back right now, with the whole “crashing and burning of my comic strip” thing going on.

I kid.

(By the by, the strip will not be back by Friday, but I have high hopes that next Monday, you’ll be able to check out the continuing adventures of The Crimson Scarab.)

Looking back over the year, there are some actual bright spots.

I got to go to the Comic Con International and spend a great far-too-few days with my closest (yet farthest away) friend.

I was baptized in Lake Erie on Labor Day Weekend.

I got to reconnect with a bunch of my friends from college and marry off one of my college roommates in October.

I got paid (yes, paid actual cash!) for doing a few commissions this year.

And, though things may have ended this year in a less that great way when it came to the strip, I keep thinking the same thing:

I started a comic strip this year!

And published 54 strips!

That, at least to me, is no small feat.  I actually did it.  I didn’t just talk about it, or plan it – I acted.

2008, for all the crumminess that it had (and, I think we all know how crummy this year has been in a lot of ways, so I don’t have to go into it), will ALWAYS be the year that The Crimson Scarab made its debut.

Somehow, that makes 2008 a pretty great year for me.

Thanks to everyone that has supported me in the strip.  You have no idea how much it has meant.

That’s my year in review.  On Wednesday, I’m gonna look at the coming new year.  See you then!
